Yankee Homecoming -

Motown Dance

Welcome to Yankee Homecoming. From July 25th to August 1st the town is alive with music, crafts, food, parades. art shows and all kinds of special events.

The first Yankee Homecoming was held in 1958 in Newburyport and 25 other local communities as a way to revitalize pride and vitality downtown. Today the tradition remains only here.

Tonight is the Motown Dance Party. Begun just last year, it is guaranteed to become a lasting tradition. The Temptations, Supremes, Marvin Gaye -what could be more fun? People come in their best tie-died outfits and dance the night away! And help raise funds for the parade!

Old fashioned baseball

Want to spend a fun and relaxing afternoon? Come to the historic Spencer-Pierce -Little Farm in Newbury, MA for a game of Vintage Baseball.

Vintage baseball follows 1861 rules with no gloves but bounces allowed. For the past five years teams have been meeting at the Farm and in the past couple years Ipswich Ale, a great local brewery, has been not only providing refreshments, but now a team as well - the Ipswitch Brewers.

See the links below for the schedule for the rest of the summer. It's great fun! So bring a blanket or chair and mosquito spray, sit back with cold one and enjoy.
